Research

My research focuses on activist subcultures, prefigurative politics, and the internal dynamics of social movements.  I’m interested in how activists have articulated resistance in past social movements and how these connect to current activist subcultural practices.  Particularly, I’ve explored issues around gender, sexuality, and identity.  My most recent studies have concerned the use of transformative justice to create accountability processes in activist subcultures.
