Teaching

My teaching approach emphasizes critical thought and application of sociological concepts outside of the classroom.  I strongly believe when students' interests and experiences intersect with course material, they cultivate a greater interest and comprehension of the subject matter.  In course lectures and discussions, I integrate media and current events in order to clarify otherwise dense theoretical ideas and lead to more fruitful discussion from students who might otherwise disengage.  The result is an inherently more inclusive and interdisciplinary learning environment.  Below are links to syllabi, reading lists, and projects from previous courses I’ve taught, as well as a link to my Cultural Sociology blog with examples of various sociological subjects.
